Executive Role Document

Project Name:

Executive appointed:

Appointment Approved by:

Date of Appointment:

Context

The Executive is the individual ultimately responsible for the project and is supported by the Senior Supplier and the Senior User. The Executives role is to lead the Board in the meeting of the project’s objectives and benefits as shown in the Business Case, for which they are responsible. Key is balancing the varying demands of the business, supplier and user but the Project Board isn’t a democracy. The Executive should look for inputs and support from the Senior User and Senior Supplier but it is they who are the ultimate decision maker.

Responsibilities

These are in addition to the collective responsibilities of the Project Board:

  • Select the project management team (in particular the Project manager)
  • Oversee the development of the Project Brief and Business Case, including ensuring this is aligned with any relevant corporate strategies (if required also managing the approval of this with programme or corporate management)
  • Ensure that sufficient funding is available and secured for the project
  • Approval of any additional supplier contracts that may be required (if the relationship is a commercial one)
  • Holding the Senior Supplier to account for the specialist approach and products produced for the project both in terms of quality and integrity
  • Holding the Senior User to account for obtaining the predicted benefits of the project. Ensuring these are realized and that the reviews take place to monitor the degree to which the benefits stated in the Business Case are achieved.
  • Ensuring the responsibility for post project benefits reviews is transferred to programme or corporate management
  • Regular review of the business case and monitoring and control of progress in strategic terms as well as making sure that risks associated with the business case are identified and managed appropriately
  • If project tolerance is forecast to be exceeded the Executive must escalate issues and risks to programme or corporate management.
  • Be decisive on escalated issues keeping the focus on a continued business justification
  • Organise and chair appropriate Project Board reviews
  • Make arrangements for appropriate business assurance of the project i.e. that the business case remains valid and that the project will be completed within tolerances. In some circumstances the Executive may choose to delegate some of the assurance activities (if so these should be documented in the separate project Assurance role).

Jan 3rd 2011 gameplan

I want to clearly define the problem I have with email. What I’ve tried and what prevented it from working.

OK so I want to make an inventory of what’s on the server and start to make a gameplan for moving to another server.

I want to make progress with the newsletter problem.

I want to create a server administration guide based on  Essential System Administration.

ASP.NET Forms

created an asp.net form. Quite strange. No action for the form. ASP.NET pages always process themselves. In the page_load function you check if IsPostBack is true. Meaning that the form has been submitted. You can send the form variables to another script for processing if you like.

Need to do a lot more work on this if I’m going to feel comfortable with it. I should come up with a few different form examples to test my know how. File uploads to upload an image would be one. Email registration would be another.

Ahmad’s E-Mail problem

Ahmad phoned me today saying he was having problems with his emails, so I went through the obvious steps:

  1. Was there a problem with the details ( He’d copied and pasted them rather than entered by hand. ) Might be a problem?!
  2. Was there a problem with both incoming and outgoing email? ( Eventually only outgoing ).
  3. Had he clicked the outgoing mail server ( SMTP ) requires  authentication, and same details as for incoming email. Yes he had, but it still didn’t work.
  4. Try a different port number for the outgoing mail. Bingo! this worked.

I assume Ahmad must have a program on his computer that is using  port  25.

I’ll wait and see. Maybe the problem will crop up again.

Mi vida perra Febrero

Lunes febrero 9, 2004

He decidido enfrentarme a mi pasado, plantarle cara, cantarle las cuarenta.

I have decided to confront my past, plant to it face( to confront it ), sing to it forty, Of course, con heels. I hope it’s  not going(doubtful) to be improving with the years and takes me by surprise.

Google:

I decided to face my last stand up, sing the forty. Of course, with heels. Lest you have improved over the years and I was surprised.

Ultimately I have very little to do in the office. In fact there are days in which I’m only devoted to browsing the internet or to chatting with my three companions with which I divide ( share ) chaos and a table for almost two years already.

Google :

Lately I have very little to do in the office. In fact, there are days when I work only to surf the internet or chatting with my three companions, with whom I share chaos and table for almost two years.

I have just come down to the first floor, where the cigarette machines, cans of drink, sandwiches and various rotten things, and there are four guys, all in the same posture, with an incipient bald patch hidden by

I’m down to the first floor, where the Masquin of snuff, beverage cans, sandwiches and more nasty, and there were four types, all in the same position, with balding hair concealed by shaven, sideburns, kangaroo jersey , baggy pants and drooping, like sneakers and all from the same height. I found it funny, but not so when returning to the second floor I discovered that my boss and I have the same jersey.

San Juan – Puerto Rico

“In my old San Juan…” Thus begins a famous song that has become a national hymn that narrates the anguish and hope of those who are far from ( those who live away from ) the island.

In that time it was known as “Caparra”.  A year later Caparra was relocated to the west of the original location. The “walled city”, the old San Juan, was officially born in 1521, making it the oldest city under the flag of the United States and the second of the Americas.

“En Mi Viejo San Juan”

translation

In my Old San Juan,

many dreams I forged
in my childhood nights.
My first illusion,
and my troubles of love
are memories of the soul.
One afternoon I departed to a foreign nation,
for that’s how destiny would have it.
But my heart remained before the sea,

in my Old San Juan.

Adiós… adiós, adiós

Borinquen querida,
Tierra de mi amor.
Adiós… adiós, adiós
Mi diosa del mar…
Mi reina del palmar.
Me voy pero un día volveré
A buscar mi querer
A soñar otra vez

En mi viejo San Juan.

Goodbye (goodbye, goodbye)

My dear Borinquen*
Land of my love
Goodbye (goodbye, goodbye)
My Goddess of the Sea
My Queen of the palm grove
I’m leaving but someday I’ll return
To search for my love
To dream once again

In my Old San Juan.

Pero el tiempo pasó

Y el destino burló
Mi terrible nostalgia.
Y no pude volver
Al San Juan que yo amé
Pedacito de patria.
Mi cabello blanqueó
Y mi vida se va
Ya la muerte me llama
Y no quiero morir
Alejado de tí

Puerto Rico del alma.

But time passed by,

and destiny mocked
my terrible nostalgia.
And I could not return
to the San Juan that I loved
little piece of my homeland.
My hair turned white,
and my life is fleeting,
death is now calling me.
And I don’t want to die
Away from you,

Puerto Rico of my soul!
